Mayyouhaveenoughhappinesstomakeyousweet,enoughtrialstomakeyoustrong,enoughsorrowtokeepyouhuman,enoughhopetomakeyouhappy?Alwaysputyourselfinothers’shoes.Ifyoufeelthatithurtsyou,itprobablyhurtstheotherperson,too.
Thehappiestofpeopledon’tnecessarilyhavethebestofeverything;theyjustmakethemostofeverythingthatcomesalongtheirway.Happinessliesforthosewhocry,thosewhohurt,thosewhohavesearched,andthosewhohavetried,foronlytheycanappreciatetheimportanceofpeople

Goodmorningeveryone,it'smypleasuretobehereandtalkaboutdreamsandambitionswithyou.WhenIwasaprimaryschoolstudentIwroteinmycompositionthatIwanttobeascientistwhenIgrowup.AtthatageIdidn'tknowwhatisascientist,nordidIknowwhatisdream.Iwroteitbecauseit'sastandardanswerforacompositiontest.AndIknowifIwrotethatIwanttobeapeasantIwouldbecriticizedandlaughedat,nomatterwhatreasonIgaveit.Butnowinuniversity,oneofmyclassmateschangedmyidea.Atthecareerplanningclasswhenaskedaboutourdreams,oneofmyclassmatesstoodupandsaid,"IwanttobeapeasantbecauseIgrowupinapeasantfamilyandIloveit."Nolaughter,nocriticism,hewastheonlywhowinnedaclapping.
Itsetsmethinking,whichshouldbeaman'sdream?ascientist,orapeasant?It'snotasimplequestionandmyanswerisboth.Thisisexactlymyunderstandingofthistopic.Dreamsaresomethingwereallywantandarewillingtotryeveryefforttoachieve,nomatterhowgreatorhowsmall,nomatterhowothersthink,itdependsonyou.
Lifeislong,andwearejustonthestartingpoint.Finallywe'llunderstandlifeisnotjustaboutmakingaliving.There'resomethingmuchmoreimportantthanmoneyandmaterialenjoyment,thatisspiritualwealth,thatisdream.It'stheprocessofyourpursuitofdream,theprocesswhenyouaretrying,whenyouareseeking,whenyouarestruggling,whenyoufailedandrestartedagainandagainwithyourdetermination,hardwork,andperseverancethatmakeyou,buildyou,andhelpyoutoleadaworthyandsignificativelife,whetheryou'llachieveyourdreamornot,theresultisnotthatimportant.

Idothenormalroutine,eatdinner,cleanthehouse,write—theusualstuff.AndthenIlaydownhopingtofallasleepquicklysomynewdaywillhurryupandarrive.Anewdaywithabrandnewsun.ButasIlaythereandwaitfortheworldtoturnhalfwayaround,Ithinkabouther.AndsometimesIsmile,andsometimesthatsmilewillturnintoasnicker,andthenoftenthatsnickerwillturnintoaburstoflaughter.
AndthentherearetimesIgetthatlumpinmythroatandthattightfeelinginmychest,andsometimesthatfeelingoverwhelmsmeandbeginstoturnintoatear,andoftenthattearmultipliesitselfandIcannolongerfightthefeelingandIlosethebattle.ThensomehowthrougheitherthejoyorthesadnessIdriftandfindmyselfasleep.Thenthedreamsbeginandkeepmecompanyuntilmynewdayarrives.
Everythingaboutmyfuturewasambiguouslyassumed.Iwouldgetintodebtbygoingtocollege,thenIwouldbeforcedtogetajobtopayoffthatdebt,whilestillgettingintomoreandmoredebtbybuyingahouseandacar.Itseemedlikeanever-endingcyclethathadnoplaceforthepossibilityofadream.
Iwantmore—butnotnecessarilyinthematerialsenseofpersonalwealthandsuccess.Iwantmoreoutoflife.Iwantapassion,aconceptualdreamthatwouldn’tletmesleepoutofpureexcitement.Iwanttospringoutofbedinthemorning,rainorshine,andhavethatzestforlifethatseemedsointrinsicinearlychildhood.
Failingiswhatmakesusgrow,itmakesusstrongerandmoreresilienttotheaspectsoflifewehavenocontrolover.Thefearoffailure,although,iswhatmakesusstagnantandsad.SoeventhoughIcouldn’tseethefutureasclearlyasbefore,Itooktheplungeinhopesthatinthedepthsoffearandfailure,Iwouldcomeoutfeelingmorealivethaneverbefore.
